“War forces you to conduct an internal reassessment”

When the threat to life is not virtual or hypothetical, but every second, you begin to value time and the resources at your disposal differently. You understand that tomorrow may not come, so postponing what needs to be done now is simply a crime. A problem, the solution to which is put off, very quickly turns into a catastrophe. It also becomes obvious that waiting for the right time, for the necessary resources to arrive, or for the stars to align in the right combination is a powerful self-deception.

You always have everything you need available to solve the problem you have identified.

It was no less important to see how the true nature of comrades was revealed, shedding all unnecessary and superficial traits. When you’re under fire, trying to survive in a trench and also complete a combat mission, it doesn’t matter what language you speak, what region of the country you live in, or which political party you support. Either you are a Human Being and act with dignity, or you are not, and that becomes instantly clear.

I use this ability to see who people really are in business as well, imagining how this person would act in a trench, under fire, or in a cold dugout waiting for relief.
